Quick Tip

Cleaning a Vase

Sometimes I purchase odd shaped glasses, cups and containers to use as a vase.  Vases can be as ornate or simple as you want them to be, whether you want the flowers to be dominant or if you want the entire arrangement (vase and all) to be the centerpiece).  Sometimes, I want to use simple, like a clear glass vase or even a clear glass.  In this case it is imperative that the glass be clean.
Some ways to clean vases, either old or used are as follows from light grit and grime to seriously dirty.
1. Pour enough vinegar in glass to cover the grit and let soak overnight
2. Fill with warm water and drop in a denture tablet and let sit overnight or 4 hours.
3. Make a paste with 1/3 cup salt a2 T vinegar.  Spread inside the vase and scrub with a bottle brush, toothbrush or rag.  Rinse
4. Fill with ammonia and let sit overnight.  Rinse thoroughly the next day.
