Another Sunday at MIT...

We lucked out with another beautiful Sunday in Boston. It was a bit windy and the temperature is steadily dropping, so we are now at 60 degrees with a "real fee" much colder.
But, it was beautiful out.
Onto our adventures...
The girls had another great day of classes at MIT. They still come out of class beaming and happy to be there. Jon and I delved further into the city....
This odd shaped building is actually the chapel at MIT. It is surrounded by a moat. Yes, a moat as in water surrounding a castle! And the spire up on the roof. The entrance is behind the building and I do not believe that there is a drawbridge there!
So, from there we went to Boston Common....and decided to walk the Freedom Trail.
Too crowded for us on the Trail on Columbus Day weekend, but we did take in a few of the 16 stops on the trail.

"Living Art" - I guess it is called. This "statue" was really a street actor. If you deposited $1 in his box he would appear to wind up and give you a scroll. This actor was fantastic. His makeup and costume was impeccable and he moved as if he was an automated robot. We thought he was great. On the other side of the Fanueil Hall we spotted another "Living Art" actor who was not as good. So, it was neat to see.

The Thinker and The Fisherman at the Frog Pond. These statues are adorable and we both liked them. I preferred the thinker, Jon preferred the fisherman's can of worms.... Funny. This pond is getting ready to be converted to a skating rink once the temperature drops.

This was my big "WHAT IS THAT" moment of the day..... Look closely at the photo below...
These people are pretending to ride brooms. They are playing Quidditch, as is the sport from the Harry Potter series. I thought we were gipped as no one was in robes, but, it was an odd sight to see grown adults "pretending" to be adolescent witches and play a make believe sport...
But, it was fun.
