White Pumpkins are this year's decorating focus. While they have been around for a number of years, they are finally making their way out of farmer's markets and into grocery stores. They are a naturally grown albino pumpkin - called Ghost Pumpkins, Snowballs, Luminas or Caspers. Smaller ones exist, called Baby Boos (too cute).
Like regular pumpkins, they have orange flesh, so when carving them, the contrast is quite striking. Being white, they make a great canvas for painting, stenciling and coloring. The contrast between the white pumpkin and colored ribbon, pedestals and backgrounds (like tablecloths and walls) is dramatic.
Of course, the naturally colored pumpkin has sparked faux white pumpkins at craft and department stores. Fun way to extend the Halloween pumpkin for weddings, elegant parties and year round decorating!
