Today, after 1 week of cancelled high school tennis matches, we had our first match! Now, it didn't come about easily. It rained all morning, then remained cloudy for an hour or so. Then, slowly and magically, the sun came out. This was followed by 60 degree temperatures, a real bonus for our barely 40 degree days.
Now, I still wasn't convinced that the match would take place, but it did. At 4:00, our first 3 girls were playing their singles match. The matches all went very well and the girls played beautifully. Overall, we lost 4 -5 but the matches were so close, it was very exciting and competitive.
(Allie and Ashley played well and won not only their singles matches, but their doubles match, resulting in 3 out of 4 of our team wins.)
It was rewarding to see all the girls try their best. All our efforts from the last few weeks of practice paid off.
Patience is perseverance, endurance and determination. Patience is the ability to use self restraint while working towards your goals.
It is only lately that I have been able to understand and appreciate the value of patience. While I could grasp the benefits of having patience, being able to stay focus and determined for long periods of time was difficult.
As I have matured, I have been able to delay my want for instant results. It has been a long lesson in itself, but a very valuable one.
