Memorial Day 2011 - Out on the Lake

The weather was fantastic yesterday - one of the best days of the year.  The sun was shining, it was warm with a slight breeze and even the bugs weren't as bad as they have been!  We took a couple of hours and went out on the lake as Jon and Allie are working on learning to wakeboard.
Wakeboarding is a sport where you are towed behind a boat just like water skiing.  You start off in the water, strapped into the boots which are attached to the board and you work with the acceleration of the boat to pull yourself up to a standing position.  Even though it sounds easy, it is fraught with difficulties. But, with enough practice, you catch on.  Of course, the less "chop" on the water, the better.  And boat speed is crucial, too fast and it creates too many waves, too slow and it is hard to stand up.
Allie is a natural.  She goes up so quickly, it is almost a pop instead of a pull.  She got up and worked on moving about the wake.
Here is Tyrus, our spotter for fallen boarders.
And Jon did so well.  By the second time, he got up and was in and out of the wakes.
Fun day!
