Before and After... Caladan

We are back from setting up our place in Florida.  We spent a lot of time fixing things up and we are quite pleased with the results.  After much careful thought on what to name our place, Ashley suggested "Caladan".  Caladan is the name of the fictional planet in Frank Herbert's Dune books.  It is the water planet because of it's vast oceans.  What could be more fitting?  So, Caladan it is!  (We considered the "White Pearl" but Caladan is so much better!)

There will be lots of pics to show, but I thought I would start with a Before and After Segment.  One of the things we wanted to do immediately was to change the color of the walls.  The were a "terra cotta" color, somewhere between orange and brown.  Some people would love this color, but we wanted something light.  So, the girls and I got to work.  We had to prime the walls and then paint them, but we were pleased with the end result... even if the procedure was messy.
The above photos are the first thing you see when you enter the condo... (Tyrus was resting for a moment when I surprised him with the photo).

Here is the kitchen and wall orange and then white walled.  I love how the stained glass stands out now.

And here is the improved entrance photos.  I really like the clean lines.
We didn't get many "in process" shots.  But, when we were painting, we had no furniture or stepladders.  But, we had ingenuity and drive to finish.  So, Ashley and I took turns with Allie on our back, so she could reach the high areas.  Needless to say, we went out and bought a step ladder while the primer was drying.
