This Thanksgiving, why not try your hand at some easy napkin folding shapes? As a child, I loved going to fancy restaurants with the linens folded as swans, bishop hats or some other unusual and elegant shapes.
As an adult, I still appreciate a nicely folded napkin, but get grossed out when they are placed in my drinking glass. Yes, the table looks beautiful with napkins fanning out of the glasses. They are usually stuck in the glasses because it adds height to an otherwise flat table. But, the idea of lint in my glass or that someone stuck their hands in my glass to wedge the napkin in -- well, it detracts from the beauty for me.

The Basic Silverware Pouch from napkinfoldingguide.com is a great fold for a buffet table where the silverware is left for guests to take back to the dining table. It also works well for chopsticks or tucking in a note or flower!

The Rose Bud Fold from decorating ideas made easy creates a standing napkin. It is a little more complicated than the other two folds, but is quite elegant.
