Tennis Season Has Begun!

This was a week of amazing weather.  We had a stretch of weather that got warmer and warmer and sunnier and sunnier.  Yesterday reached over 85 degrees and today, while cooler was just as sunny.  Thursday was so hot that the girls started looking sunburned and red just an hour into practice.  I stop practice for water breaks, but as the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink.... so goes with high school girls.  I can stop and offer a moment's rest for a water break, but they are the only ones who can actually lift the water bottle to their mouths....
We had a great practice.  In fact, it went so well that I lost track of time.
Just as we were getting ready to pack up and go, one girl came running over to me, gasping for air. She had just met her mother in the parking lot and had a grocery bag full of popsicles for the entire team!
And let me tell you that nothing has ever  tasted so refreshing!

This was the first week since I've been coaching the high school team that we have had 5 days in a row of practice.  Normally, the weather is not cooperative and there is usually some rain (or snow) mixed in with our spring sports.  So, to have 5 days the first week puts us in very good shape for the season.
We have 18 girls, our biggest team yet.  Here's hoping for another good week!
