Kumato: A Brown Tomato!

Most of the tomatoes at the grocery store are horrible -- artificially colored and shaped.  They do not resemble a real tomato, the kind you grow in your garden or at a farm.  But, occasionally the grocery store carries heirloom varieties and even some good quality organic ones.  I found these "kumato" tomatoes and had to try them.
They come in a long cardboard box and look more like plums than tomatoes! The cardboard container is actually quite nice.
And the kumatos were quite delicious.  I found them to be more maroon with green edges than brown, but just as tasty as home grown tomato.  If you closed your eyes and tasted them, you would think they were red tomatoes.
