An education program is, by definition, a societal program. Work should be done at school, rather than at home,” as a way to ensure that students who have no help at home are not disadvantaged.Hollande's platform is to add 1/2 school day, increase the number of teachers and overhaul the curriculum.
Keep in mind that French students have a 4 day week with each workday ranging from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Interesting. So, in order to prevent disadvantaged students from "being disadvantaged", Hollande's solution is to make all kids disadvantaged. If they ALL don't do homework, then no one fails the homework.
The "solution" to lower the common denominator so that the least capable are not longer in the minority is hardly a solution. To stifle those students who excel at school, who stand out because they have a natural ability or (God forbid) because they work hard to achieve results should be criminal.
While every person should have the right to life, liberty and happiness, not every person is the same. We all have different talents, interests and drives. Discouraging students from studying outside of class? How can ANY educator agree with this?
Despite Hollande's proposal, it is unclear how France will pay for those reforms....
I guess someone didn't do their homework.
