The Great Pumpkin 2012
Each year pumpkin growers are in competition to grow the largest pumpkin. Now, I don't know about you, but once the pumpkin is no longer orange, I think it becomes a playground fixture. But growers are not deterred by this. They grow pumpkins that can be measured in the hundreds of pounds. Well, this year, someone topped all that.
The world's largest pumpkin was from Rhode Island and weighed a whopping 2,009 pounds. The winner was awarded the $5,000 grand prize from the Topsfield Fair and a $10,000 for breaking the one ton mark. The previous record was held by a man from Boscawen, NH with his pumpkin weighing a a mere 1,843 pounds.
