Hermit in the Maine Woods

Have you heard the news article about the man who lived alone in the Maine woods for 27 years?  He had no contact with people (except for one interaction with a hiker in the 90's).  One day in 1986 Christopher Knight just walked into the woods and remained there.
How did he survive?
He made a makeshift campsite.  He made sure it was hidden and even covered exposed shovels with moss and dirt so it couldn't be seen from the air.
How did he eat?
He didn't hunt and thought fishing was too much work.  Instead he stole from campers who set up tents overnight.  He also went to the Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine and stole food and supplies from that facility for children and adults with disabilities.
How was he found/caught?
People at Pine Tree Camp noticed food and batteries missing and set up cameras. When he was discovered last Thursday, he had $280 worth of food in his arms!
Knight admitted to over 40 burglaries each year for the past 27 years.  He isn't sure what he looks like as he thinks his eyesight is deteriorating and has only seen his reflection in pools of water.
What now?
He is now in jail awaiting a court hearing and sentencing.
