Botanical Sketch #6 Mushrooms

Here's another Botanical Sketch from the series I'm working on.  I love the artful quality of mushrooms.  As a child, mushrooms are depicted in the fairy world, being used as umbrellas, seats and houses for gnomes and tiny entities that live in the imaginary world.  Mushrooms take interesting shapes when they grow, they wobble and arch their backs, making for pretty, organic stems and domed caps. I love the gills underneath and the furry little beards as their roots.  Mushrooms have so much interest and personality, it makes it fun to draw.  Now, who came up with the idea of eating one?
