Botanical Sketches #46 - Nymphaea

Today's Botanical Sketch is the Nymphaea or Water Lily, sometimes called Lotus. The water lily is quite interesting as the main part of the plant is submerged, but the leaves and blossoms float on the surface of the water.  The plants are not only beautiful but provide shade to ponds which reduces algae in ponds and lakes.
I used colored pencils to sketch over a geli-plate monoprint.
