Days of the Blackbird
Today is the first day of the Day of the Blackbird, based on the book
Days of the Blackbird by Tomie DePaola
. In a nutshell, the final three days of January are the coldest days of the year. During these days, white birds hide in chimneys to stay warm and when they finally emerge, they are black and covered with soot. But, not all is lost, spring is on its way!
Information about the local Festival can be found here.
