Ice Orbs

What do you do when the temperature gets measured in the negative degrees?
Well, aside from bundling up, play with water! Well, make fill vessels with water, leave them outside overnight and let them freeze and you have ice sculptures. Not the fancy kind in the shape of swans or mermaids, but simple shapes that are made with everyday household items. The above ice donut was made with a simple gelatin mold.
And these giant diamonds were made by filling balloons, letting them freeze and then peeling off the balloon.
These were made by adding a few drops of food coloring into the balloon before adding the water. Warning: the food coloring stains your fingers as you peel off the balloon. But it certainly makes pretty orbs.
And hereis a close up of the blue sea urchin orb.
And the green sea urchin one!
