Bird Series: Pine Grosbeak

The Pine Grosbeak is one of the rarest of the winter finches. It lives year round in Canada and the northern United States. The male is red, the female is gray with yellow/olive heads. The Pine Grosbeak eats snow and drinks water daily. The breeding birds develop small pouches in their mouths, so they can feed their young. Their diet consists of plants, buds, fruits from pine trees and seeds. They will add bugs to their diet when they are feeding their young.
I added a green background, reminiscent of pines for this one. The background is subtle and a helps make the red feather pop.
