Feeling so blessed this week...
Had friends over to dinner for the first time.
Played tennis in the hot sunshine and felt alive and strong. It is the greatest feeling to be able to focus on nothing but the game. It was such a luxury.
We took the girls out to a sushi restaurant, where we previously met the owner and loved the place. He kindly set out a bottle of sake to us for dessert and thanked us for returning. We had a fabulous meal and were given a gift to boot!
Ashley made Dean's List at Boston University! She works so hard and makes Chemistry and schooling her priority.
Allie took on the task of making Pina Coladas from scratch. They were delicious, refreshing and decadent. She's becoming quite the cook!
I'm busy working on the book cover for my latest novel and loving the process. I am reminded that I am so blessed to work with hard working, wonderfully generous people.
My tennis is progressing! I've been working on a different grip. This means different timing, placement and footwork. It really is difficult to teach an old dog new tricks. I haven't given up yet.
We had some windows old windows replaced in our home and despite the dust, mess, and intrusion, we are very happy with the results. In preparation for the construction work we had to remove a kitchen light fixture so it wouldn't get broken since it hung very low and we frequently bumped our head on it. After the work was done, Jon hung it back up, but before he did, he shortened it. It was ingenious! Now, no one bumps their head and it still coordinates with the ones we have. He saved us the hassle of choosing new fixtures, the expense of a new purchase as well as the expense of hiring someone to do the work. It looks great and I am thrilled that he did it all by himself.
June 21, Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year... it's also my grandmother's birthday. She died in 2001, but each June 21 I remember her and and how proud she was to have a June 21 birthday.
