The NH State flower is the lilac, but the wildflower is the lady slipper, a type of orchid. They grow in dry forests and are hard to propagate. They are typically pink but can be white as well. Contrary to popular belief it is not illegal to pick them. However, they are listed as endangered or threatened Landowners are asked not to grow species from other states but to pick up plants at the NH State Nursery so to be sure to get the NH species.
